The British Indian Indie Rock Invasion

Forming in 1991 out of the ashes of a little known band "General Havoc," Tjinder Singh (singer, songwriter and guitar) and current band mates (the band has been completely overhauled over the years) Anthony Saffery (sitar, keyboards and harmonium), Nick Simms(drums) and Pete Bengry (percussion) have taken a new direction to put out their next album. "Cornershop & The Double 'O' Groove Of' ft Bubbley Kaur" is a fully self funded project where the band has raised (so far) 131% of their goal by giving fans the opportunity to purchase exclusive albums, artwork, lyrics sheets, limited LP's (all signed by Cornershop)or even a dinner with the band at Dishoom Restaurant in London on PledgeMusic.com.

I first discovered Cornershop about a decade ago while out with friends in Little Five Points, Atlanta. I stumbled in Variety Playhouse
half way through their (very empty) show after convincing the door man to let me in for 5 bucks. I was blown away. The combination of the guitar, sitar and percussion mixed with disco breaks was intoxicating and was a sound that would not allow my body to remain dormant. To my knowledge they haven't toured in the U.S. since that time but there are rumbles of some hopeful stateside dates following the release of there latest record. If you have the opportunity to see them, do not miss it and you will (as C'shop says) "remain a winner."

If you want to get a party started or a "lot" crowd dancing (must have music for rocking the lot), just throw on some Cornershop and they will come...

Melancholy

I kept hearing this song every morning on my morning mix station.....I really like the tone in her voice...otherwise very melancholy, yet peaceful song.
